§ 40-480. Sewerage rates for nonusers of city water.

  • (a)

    All persons, firms and corporations who do not use water furnished and sold to them by the city, and whose premises are within the corporate limits of the city and are connected to the Sanitary Sewer System of the City of Cornelia, shall pay to the city, as a monthly sewer service charge, a sum equal to the average charge paid by like users of the sanitary sewer system within the corporate limits of the city of cornelia under the provisions of section 40-477 of this chapter.

    (b)

    All persons, firms and corporations who do not use water furnished and sold to them by the city, and whose premises are without the corporate limits of the city and are connected with the Sanitary Sewer System of the City of Cornelia, shall meter the water used by them from any other source and which ultimately enters the sanitary sewer system of the; shall provide city access to said premises at all reasonable times for the purpose of reading such water meter; and shall pay to the city a monthly sewer service charge equal to twice the amount they would have paid the city for such water at the rates provided in subsections 40-449(2)a. and b. of this chapter had the city furnished such water.

    (c)

    Said monthly sewer service charges for nonusers of water furnished by the city shall be due and payable upon the first day of the calendar month following the calendar month in which such service charge is incurred, and, unless paid by the 15th day of the month in which such sums are due, such persons, firms or corporations shall be charged a penalty of ten percent of the sums so owed for failure to pay said sums within the required time.
